Taking a break….

Starting today, Monday 15 November, through the end of the year, I am taking a sabbatical from my broadcasting work, and I will be drastically cutting back on my blogging as well.

I have been going at it pretty hard for the last ten plus years and I need a break to rest and recharge; but more importantly my time away will be for prayer and seeking the Lord’s direction. There has been a lot going on in my life that has at times drained me physically, emotionally and spiritually. I need some deliberate and dedicated time to pray and reflect.

The Mike Corley Program and On Call with Dr. Dan Edney will be sharing some great programs from the archives, some which have not heard since the date they initially aired on the radio. I may do the same thing on the blog as well.

I humbly ask for your prayers and look forward with hope and faith to what the Lord will show me.

Soli Deo Gloria

May God’s peace be on you and go with you. Remember, Mike, you are not alone. Though God may answer you with silence, he hears the prayers of his own and will act in their best interests. We do not know nor can know until the time of their manifestation that God will act, but he has not left us friendless— we have the Holy Ghost, the Comforter. One of St. John Chrysostom’s prayers is efficacious:
“Almighty God, who hast given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications unto thee; and dost promise that when two or three are gathered together in thy name thou wilt grant their requests; fulfil now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of thy servants as may be most expedient for them; granting us in this world knowledge of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. Amen.”

Take it one day at a time Bro., and keep looking up, God bless you and all yours, you will be in our thoughts and prayers…..

You could come to New Zealand for a holiday, we love good old Yankees down this way. There’s even an American Air Force hanger here in Christchurch for those huge cargo jets they fly down to Antarctica, they fly right over the top of our home on their way down to the ice. They really groan as they take off and until they reach cruising altitude because they are so loaded up with supplies, fascinating watching them. I love plane spotting, I could sit out at the airport and watch planes come and go all day…..

    Weak and helpless and burdened

    (John MacDuff, “Family Prayers” 1885)

We come, weak and helpless and burdened,
to that cross where alone there is shelter and peace
for the guilty. We take refuge anew at the foot of
Your cross, bringing our infinite unworthiness to
Your infinite merit and all-sufficiency. Wash us,
blessed Savior, in the fountain opened for sin and
for uncleanness. Receive us graciously. Love us
freely. Preserve against the world’s snares, and
dangers, and temptations. May Your love exercise
    a paramount influence over us.
