I don’t want to throw the baby out with the bath water, but this commercial for the Salvation Army bothers me.. At one time the organization presented soup, soap and salvation, Christian salvation through the atonement of Christ…the Gospel. Now, it seems, and this ad makes the point….that the Salvation Army has morphed into a social organization with little semblance of being a Christian ministry. Am I wrong?

Mike, you are totally right. The ad goes WAY to far to equate “Amazing grace” (saving grace) with meeting material needs, and by extension good works. Some re-wording of the ad could have done a much better job of showing how the S.A. works at BOTH meeting physical needs AND meeting spiritual need of salvation in Christ. But maybe their current purpose is told in the way this ad runs, and that would be sad.
