Nothing new under the sun…

What an unfair attempt at putting words into the mouths of 2 faithful Christian men. Billy Graham said nothing in that video that “denied that Christ was the only way!” I’m pretty sure that both Billy Graham and the pope have read and completely believe (John 14:6) that Christ is THE way, THE truth, and THE life, and that no man is saved except through Christ.

Are we saved by what we know about the bible, our understanding about the doctrines of Christianity, our interpretation of the koinoi Greek, our abilities to exegete the latin vulgate, or any other “works of the human intellect” ?

Or are we saved through Christ alone? Do men decide who receives the free and undeserved gift of salvation, or does Jesus Christ decide who receives His Grace?

It saddens me to hear the beloved Dr. Billy Graham utter such heresy as is on the clip which you have provided. I grew up listening to him, but I do not recall ever hearing him say what I heard on this clip. Very, very disturbing.
The Anglican Article of Religion which comes to mind in this situation is Article #18 Of Obtaining eternal Salvation only by the Name of Christ. It states,
“They also are to be had accursed that presume to say, that every man shall be saved by the Law or Sect which he professeth, so that he be diligent to frame his life according to that Law, and the light of Nature. For Holy Scripture doth set out unto us only the Name of Jesus Christ, whereby men must be saved.”
If you are trying to seek salvation apart from Jesus Christ, it will not be realized. This calls to mind a theological paper by an Episcopal teacher who said (and I will paraphrase) that “God is like an ocean, who washes up to people on distant shores in different forms.”
Beware false teachers who are wolves in sheep’s clothing.
