Quick thoughts on Michael Vick

There has been much said and written about Michael Vick, his crimes and his admission that he has “found Jesus”. This site is not a sports blog and I have made my opinions widely known about how I feel about a lot of professional sports, but I wanted to drop a few quick thoughts on the Vick situation.

  • Vicks dilemma is the result of his selfish and arrogant behavior. He is reaping what he has sown. He is spoiled and perhaps all of this, and yes even a little jail time, could do him good. Let’s face it, running on a football field and chasing a bladder of air can’t compare to the commitment of others who work much harder and make far less.
  • What Vick did was deplorable. I love dogs and could never dream of treating animals like he has admitted to doing.
  • While the crime involving the dogs is awful, it is very disturbing (but not surprising) that so many people are so upset of this but turn a blind eye to the slaughter of millions of innocent children and call it abortion.
  • If he said he has “found Jesus” I can’t presume to say that he hasn’t. I could debate on the theological aspect of using those particular words, or the seven other times he says he found Jesus. But ultimately I say let’s allow Vick to show some fruit. If the evidence is there of conversion, praise God. If not, then we know what didn’t happen. While we shouldn’t rush to judgment to say that he is only taking advantage of the situation, we also shouldn’t be so quick to just lay down and say that now that he has “found religion” he is off the hook.

There you go and with all that said……I still believe soccer is the REAL football!

That is the most important aspect of all of this. He breeds a couple dozen dogs to fight, and kills about half a dozen and people are ready to skin him alive and throw him to the dogs [no pun intended]. But countless unborn children have their lives’ snuffed out and you barely hear a peep outside of the religious pro-life crowd.

You last point is exactly right. I wish some of the other discernment ministries shared your view.

By the way, I of course am not talking about your last comment. Comparing football to futbol is blasphemy.

    Love you bro!
