World, Christians Have Same Behavior Patterns James Boice

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world.” This sentence in Romans 12:2 has two key words: “world,” which is actually “age” (aion, meaning, “this present age” in contrast to “the age to come”); and “do not conform,” which is a compound having at its root the word “scheme.” So the verse means, “Do not let the age in which you live force you into its scheme of thinking and behaving.” The idea is that the world has its ways of thinking and doing things and is exerting pressure on Christians to conform to it. But instead of being conformed to the world, Christians are to be changed from within to be increasingly like Jesus Christ. The chief problem with the evangelical church is that we have been increasingly conformed to this world’s patterns and that, if we are to see a new reformation, we will have to break away from these patterns and seek to recover the authentic biblical gospel, learning again to think and act in God’s way”. … [Read More!]

This is the problem with the Emergent Church and many Evangelicals today. Many seem to be under the impression that being in the world is a ticket to being of the world and that using worldly methods will attract the unbeliever. I just don’t understand that. To stand out we need to be different. Christ tells us “My sheep will hear My voice” (John 10:27) Let the preaching of the Gospel in the Word call the true sheep!

I Chorinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

It is the Holy Spirit who calls a soul, NOT us! We are simply the vessel! Far be it from us to us ANY other method to call to the lost than that which is ordained in Scripture!

True Salvation is by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in CHRIST alone. It is Salvation from SIN not from wordly discomfort, as many are presenting it!

Excellent point. The problem is that these men think they are to win the world to Christ. Therein is the root of their two crippling problems. They can do nothing and the Great Commission is call the sheep out from the nations and disciple them. They have forgotten Romans 8:8. 🙂
